In February 2008, the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company resurfaced the top level of the East Pier of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. Additional repair work was carried out to the East Pier inner harbour in June 2011. The East Pier sundial was commissioned by DLHC as a feature of artistic and scientific interest for all who use the amenities of the Harbour, and to mark the successful restoration of the East Pier.
