No Bathing at all beaches in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Area for Seven Days

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has been made aware of a sewerage wastewater overflow at the Irish Water operated Ringsend wastewater treatment plant during the recent yellow weather warning event on June 4/5.

As a consequence of this event Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, in consultation with the Health Service Executive, have put temporary bathing prohibition notices in place at all of our designated public bathing sites in the county, starting today 6 June. It is expected that this temporary prohibition notification will be in place for 7 days. All areas along the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown coastline whether designated as bathing areas or not are considered covered by this notice.

Sampling will be taking place at all our designated bathing areas i.e.:

  • Seapoint Beach
  • Sandycove Beach
  • The Forty Foot Bathing Area
  • Killiney Beach
  • White Rock Beach

It is HSE advice that aside from bathers & beach users any organisers of any coastline or water based leisure or sporting event along the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown coastline should pay particular attention to this notification.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will be keeping you up-to-date on developments and any further information on our website and on our social media channels and also www.beaches.ie
