Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company (DLHC) is the statutory commercial body charged with developing Dún Laoghaire Harbour as a marine tourism gateway to Ireland, maintaining and enhancing the recreational and amenity value of the Harbour and promoting investment and commercial development to support the historic Harbour’s long-term maintenance. The Harbour was built between 1817 and 1842 and is widely recognised as one of the finest artificial harbours in the world.

DLHC was established under the Harbours Act of 1996 and was formally established in March 1997.  DLHC aims at all times, to be fair and equitable in its dealings with employees, suppliers and the local community. In addition it aims to provide an efficient and cost effective service to its customers.

The Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company is a state commercial company charged with the responsibility for the maintenance and development of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. It’s corporate objectives are:

  • To enhance Dún Laoghaire’s attractiveness as a gateway for tourists to Ireland by offering state of the art berthing and terminal facilities to ferry operators at Dún Laoghaire Harbour
  • To maintain and enhance the recreational and amenity value of the Harbour in the interest of all of its stakeholders
  • To promote investment in the Harbour
  • To generate sufficient cash flow from commercial operations to provide for the long term maintenance of the Harbour and meet the dividend targets of the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources

In order to carry out these objectives, the Company aims at all times, to be fair and equitable in its dealings with employees, suppliers and the local community. In addition it aims to provide and efficient and cost effective service to its customers

Organisational Structure

Directors

A new board for the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company was appointed by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr Leo Varadkar in December 2012.


Eithne Scott-Lennon (Chairman)

Eithne Scott-Lennon is a career hotelier and owner of Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Killiney. She has a broad range of experience in business, tourism and hospitality and currently serves on the Board of the National Tourism Development Authority (Failte Ireland). Eithne is married and has four sons.


Gerry Dunne (CEO)

Gerry Dunne was appointed CEO in March 2009.  Gerry brings extensive executive Board experience having served on a number of Boards in market sectors such as Education, Communications, and Food.  Gerry is married and lives in Monkstown.


Mark Finan

Mark Finan who is a barrister-at-law with particular expertise in regulatory compliance, European and international law. He lives in Monkstown, Co Dublin.


Don McManus

Don McManus is Chairperson of Dún Laoghaire Business Improvement District (BID). He is from Dún Laoghaire, and is Managing Director of his family-owned business which has operated in Dun Laoghaire since 1928.


James Jordan

James Jordan is a retired SIPTU trade union official and continues to be a community activist in the Dún Laoghaire area.  He lives in Glenagaery, Co Dublin.
